Ugandan Singer A Pass Marries Alicia In Private Traditional Ceremony
Ugandan musician A Pass has married his partner Alicia in a private traditional wedding ceremony putting their relationship in the public spotlight after keeping much of their romance away from social media.
The singer whose real name is Alexander Bagonza shared glimpses of the ceremony online with one of his posts simply describing the couple as married.
The traditional ceremony took place on Saturday and was attended by family and close friends, according to local entertainment reports.
This announcement prompted congratulatory messages from fellow Ugandans and fans many of whom had not previously seen much of Alicia or the relationship.
A Pass is one of the established musicians having built a career around Afro-pop, reggae and dancehall music. He has released songs including Didadada, Wuuyo and Tuli Kubigere, and his music has also featured on the soundtrack of the Disney film Queen of Katwe.
The wedding has also triggered speculation online that Alicia could be pregnant.
Some social-media users claimed they noticed what appeared to be a baby bump in videos from the ceremony and began discussing the possibility that the couple could be expecting a child.
There has, however, been no public confirmation from A Pass or Alicia that they are expecting a baby.
The couple have generally kept their relationship relatively private, making the decision to share images from their traditional wedding a notable moment for the singer’s fans.
The wedding represents a more personal side of an artist who has spent much of his career in the public eye.
A Pass has been active in Uganda’s music industry for more than a decade and has worked with several prominent musicians and producers. His music has also reached international audiences through projects such as Queen of Katwe, whose soundtrack included his work alongside other Ugandan and international artists.
His latest wedding announcement has now shifted attention from his music to his personal life with fans celebrating the couple while online discussions continue about what may come next.
