Inter Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) council has resolved to admit the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) into the country’s inter-party dialogue platform, according to NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong.
Speaking during an interview on NBS Television, Todwong said the decision was reached by the IPOD council, paving the way for the two opposition parties to formally join the organisation.
He noted that the move is intended to strengthen inclusive political dialogue among parties represented in Uganda’s democratic process.
IPOD serves as a forum that brings together political parties to discuss governance, electoral reforms, national development, and other issues of public interest.
NUP and ANT have not previously been active members of the platform.
The resolution, once implemented, is expected to broaden participation in IPOD and encourage greater engagement between the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and opposition political parties.
Neither NUP nor ANT had publicly commented on the development at the time of publication. Further details regarding the formal admission process and timelines are expected to be announced by the IPOD leadership.
