Bamuhwezi Investments Proprietor Pastori Muhwezi Dies After Road Crash On Ibanda-Mbarara Highway

MBARARA, UgandaPastori Muhwezi, the proprietor of Bamuhwezi Investments, has died after sustaining injuries in a road crash at Kagongi Trading Centre along the Ibanda–Mbarara Highway.

Muhwezi, who owned Bamuhwezi Hotel and Bamuhwezi Coffee Factories, was involved in the accident together with his wife and son. The three were rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

According to initial reports, the crash occurred at Kagongi Trading Centre along the busy Ibanda–Mbarara Highway.

Muhwezi, his wife and their son were travelling together when they were involved in the accident. The circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been officially disclosed.

All three victims were taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where medical teams attended to them.

Despite efforts by health workers to save his life, Muhwezi later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

His wife and son remain admitted at the hospital, where they are continuing to receive treatment.

Hospital officials have not publicly disclosed details about their condition.

Pastori Muhwezi was a well-known businessman in western Uganda and the proprietor of Bamuhwezi Investments, a company with interests in hospitality and coffee processing.

His businesses, including Bamuhwezi Hotel and Bamuhwezi Coffee Factories, contributed to employment and commercial activity in the region, particularly within the tourism and agricultural sectors.

His death is expected to be felt across the local business community, where he was recognised for his entrepreneurial work.

Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash to establish the circumstances that led to the accident.

Police had not released an official statement on the incident by the time of publication.

The accident comes amid renewed concern over road safety in Uganda following a series of fatal crashes reported in recent days.

Road safety experts continue to urge motorists to observe speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking, and ensure vehicles are mechanically sound, particularly on major highways.

Family members and friends are expected to begin funeral arrangements as tributes continue to pour in for the businessman.

Further information on the condition of Muhwezi’s wife and son, as well as the findings of the police investigation, is expected in the coming days.
