KAMPALA, Uganda – President Yoweri Museveni has presided over the graduation of 106 senior security officers who completed the Advanced Joint Senior Political Education and Leadership Development Course, urging them to remain committed to patriotism, Pan-Africanism and disciplined leadership.

The pass-out ceremony took place on Friday, with the President congratulating the officers on successfully completing the programme designed to strengthen ideological orientation and leadership within Uganda’s security services.

President Museveni officiated at the graduation ceremony, where 106 senior officers from Uganda’s security agencies were awarded certificates after completing the advanced leadership course.

In a message shared after the event, the President said the course was intended to equip senior security personnel with the ideological and leadership skills needed to support Uganda’s development.

Addressing the graduates, Museveni urged them to remain firmly grounded in the principles of patriotism and Pan-Africanism, which he said are essential for effective leadership and national development.

He called on the officers to exercise discipline, promote national unity, and provide strategic leadership in advancing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

“I urged them to remain ideologically grounded, uphold patriotism and Pan-Africanism, and lead Uganda’s socio-economic transformation with discipline, unity and strategic clarity,” the President said.

He also congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future assignments.

Advanced Joint Senior Political Education and Leadership Development Course forms part of Uganda’s efforts to strengthen leadership within the country’s security institutions.

The programme focuses on political education, strategic leadership, governance, and national ideology, preparing senior officers for greater responsibilities within the military and other security agencies.

Government officials have previously said such courses are intended to ensure security leaders understand national priorities and can effectively contribute to peace, stability, and development.

106 graduates are expected to return to their respective security institutions, where they will apply the leadership and strategic management skills acquired during the course.

The government continues to invest in leadership development programmes as part of broader efforts to strengthen professionalism and coordination across Uganda’s security sector.
