Former Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesi has received support from members of the Rwandan community, including media personalities, following allegations made by Ugandan musician Bebe Cool claiming he was allegedly targeted in a scam involving individuals posing as her online.
The development has triggered a heated online discussion across social media platforms, with both sides presenting conflicting accounts of the events.
According to posts circulating online, sections of the Rwandan community have come out in defence of Jolly Mutesi, arguing that she is being wrongly implicated in the matter.
Media personalities and supporters say Bebe Cool may have “fallen for a trap” allegedly set by scammers who impersonated the former beauty queen using digital communication channels.
Bebe Cool, in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), claimed that the incident began after he attended a football match at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in January last year.
He alleges that shortly after the match, he received messages and a phone call from individuals he believes were part of a scam network.
The musician further claimed that he later saw a woman resembling the images sent to him at the stadium on the same day, which he says strengthened his suspicions.
In his posts, Bebe Cool called for an investigation involving Rwandan authorities, including President Paul Kagame, arguing that the matter risks damaging the country’s reputation.
He also warned the public and media personalities to be cautious about engaging with the ongoing online narrative, saying more details and evidence would be released later.
The exchange has sparked widespread debate on social media, with users divided between supporting the musician’s claims and defending Jolly Mutesi against what others describe as online misinformation and impersonation.
The matter continues to trend under various hashtags, drawing attention from entertainment circles and digital safety advocates. As of now, no official statement has been issued by Rwandan authorities or law enforcement regarding the allegations or any ongoing investigation.
