Fourteen people have been confirmed dead and 28 others injured following a fatal road traffic crash at Bobi Trading Centre along the Kampala-Gulu Highway.

According to the Uganda Police Force, the crash occurred on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at around 9:34pm and involved an Isuzu bus, registration number UBE 110H, belonging to OPIT Travellers Company, and a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer, registration numbers KBS 564D/ZE 7948.

Police spokesperson for Traffic and Road Safety, Michael Kananura, said the injured victims were rushed to various medical facilities for treatment.

“The crash involved motor vehicle UBE 110H, an Isuzu bus belonging to OPIT Travellers Company, and motor vehicle KBS 564D/ZE 7948, a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer. Fourteen people have been confirmed dead while twenty-eight others sustained injuries,” Kananura said.

Police teams responded to the scene to manage the situation, document the incident and begin investigations into the cause of the crash.

Authorities have continued to urge motorists to observe road safety measures, including avoiding reckless driving, speeding and other behaviours that contribute to fatal road accidents.
