KAMPALA
President Yoweri Museveni presided over the first Cabinet meeting of the newly constituted government for the 2026–2031 term, formally launching the implementation of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) administration’s agenda following the Cabinet Induction Retreat at the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi.
The meeting brought together Cabinet ministers, ministers of state, permanent secretaries, and other senior government officials to begin coordinating the government’s work for the next five years.
According to State House Uganda, the meeting marked the official commencement of collective government business under the new administration, with a focus on delivering the NRM’s policy priorities and manifesto commitments.
The Cabinet session followed the recently concluded induction retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi, where newly appointed ministers and senior government officials were oriented on their roles, responsibilities, and the government’s strategic direction.
The retreat emphasized accountability, efficient public service delivery, and alignment of government programmes with the NRM’s development agenda.
President Museveni has consistently urged government officials to prioritize wealth creation, value addition, industrialization, infrastructure development, and improved service delivery as key pillars of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
The first Cabinet meeting is expected to set the tone for policy implementation across ministries, departments, and agencies as the government begins executing its development programmes during the 2026–2031 term.
The meeting also underscores the administration’s intention to strengthen coordination among political leaders and technocrats in implementing government decisions and advancing national development objectives over the next five years.
